    - Our 5th Annual Memorial Day Assembly was beautiful and successful.  It was an honor to recognize the ultimate sacrifice made by Ms. Toro's son Isaac Cortes.  Those of you who didn't have the opportunity to attend, Ms. Emily Toro is a Gold Star Mother - which is a title given to those parents who lost their child while serving their country.

    - Thank you to all those students who had their students submit Veteran's Day Cards.  The sentiments from our students and some staff members surely touched the hearts of our Veterans. 
    - We had a number of very endearing nominations submitted for October's V.I.P.  It was very difficult to make a decision.  I am pleased to recognize our three staff VIP for the month of October - nominated by a student who they have impacted ... Ms. Wakie, Ms. Tang, and Mr. Bright.  Congratulations!  They will be honored at our Student of the Month Breakfast today during period 3.
    - November 17th we will celebrate National Smoke Out Day.  This is an opportunity to take positive steps towards a healthier you.  We are also having our Fall Ball from 5:30 - 7:30.  You will need to donate a canned good in order to enter.  It will be added to  our collection for our Food Drive.

    Monday, October 17th
    - This is our first full week of school.  During period 2, you will receive your Coat Drop-Off & Coat Pick-Up Labels.  These labels should be placed in your planners.  They will inform you of what room you will need to place your belongings in on each week day.
    - We are holding Department Professional Development from 2:30-3:30 in order to discuss Parent Teacher Conferences and our Open House.
    - Mr. Gulino and his tech toads made headlines this past weekend during the Coney Island Coastal Cleanup.  Over 200 students from over a dozen schools took part.  Our students took part in Educational and STEM related games, various activities, and helped to clean the coastal line.
